The sunny weather and warm breezes of summer can mean only one thing to Carlsbad residents: it is time for the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce’s Carlsbad Village Faire.
The semi-annual event is a tradition for Carlsbad and North County residents alike, and signifies the official start of summer.
The street faire, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 6, fills downtown Carlsbad with vendors, goodies and activities for a day.
Sponsored by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, the faire is the largest one-day street faire in the country, attracting about 100,000 people each year.
“The Carlsbad Street Faire is in the top echelon of city fairs in the nation,” said Ted Owen, the chamber’s president and CEO. “This is Carlsbad’s signature event twice a year. The chamber is honored to be the sponsor of this monumental event.”
With 900 vendors displaying their wares, the Carlsbad Village Faire is never lacking in unique, interesting and one-of-a-kind items.
This year, The Body Bar Salon & Day Spa will host a runway fashion show at the faire.
“We thought we would take advantage of our captive audience and show them what we have to offer, I have a staff of very talented individuals and we thought this would be very fun and exciting,” said Gina Del Bene, the salon’s owner.
Del Bene hopes to include local clothing companies in the fashion show, which will showcase the Body Bar’s handiwork of hairstyles and makeup. The store will feature three fashion shows starting at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The faire will include vendors, a food court and children’s play section.
