The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual Outstanding Educational Program Awards Dinner April 27. More than 360 guests gathered to celebrate excellence in education at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad.
The program, hosted by James Quinones of San Diego News Channel 10, joined the Carlsbad Chamber with Carlsbad’s business community to honor educators and their exceptional programs that serve Carlsbad schools and enrich the lives of students.
“Teachers are genuinely excited for this event and it gives them an opportunity to celebrate their hard work, dedication and accomplishment with their peers and the community,” said Lisa Manemann, director of special events at the chamber.
During the event, the Carlsbad Educational Foundation presented its 2007 Kids Are Worth A Million grants, which totaled $400,000, to Kelli Moors, president of the Carlsbad School Board of Trustees, and John Roach, superintendent of the schools.
Of the nominations, 17 finalists were chosen and received $100 each from the Carlsbad Chamber’s Partners in Education Foundation. Winning programs received $500.
